King Joash turned away from Yahweh

24:17a After the death of Jehoiada, however, the officials of Judah

After the death of Jehoiada, the leaders of Judah
-or-
When Jehoiada ⌊the sacrificer died⌋, the leaders of Judah

24:17b came and paid homage to the king,

came and bowed down before the king.
-or-
went to beg the king ⌊to do what they wanted⌋.

24:17c and he listened to them.

The king listened to what they said.

Then the king accepted ⌊what they asked⌋.
