Section 23:1-21

The people rebelled against Athaliah and made Joash king of Judah

23:1a Then in the seventh year, Jehoiada strengthened himself

In the seventh year, Jehoiada decided that it was time to take action.

After nearly seven (7) years, Jehoiada decided that he must be brave.

23:1b and made a covenant with the commanders of hundreds—

He made an agreement with the ⌊army⌋ commanders of hundreds:

He made an alliance with some of the officers who commanded a hundred (100) soldiers.

23:1c with Azariah son of Jeroham, Ishmael son of Jehohanan, Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat son of Zichri.

Azariah son of Jeroham, Ishmael son of Jehohanan, Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat son of Zichri.

They were Jeroham’s son Azariah and Jehohanan’s son Ishmael and Obed’s son Azariah and Adaiah’s son Maaseiah and Zichri’s son Elishaphat.
