15:8a When Asa heard these words

When Asa heard these words of

When King Asa heard this message from God

15:8b and the prophecy of Azariah son of Oded the prophet,

the prophecy of Azariah the son of Oded,

spoken by Azariah the prophet, son of Oded,

15:8c he took courage

God gave him courage.

he had strength ⌊to act⌋.

15:8d and removed the detestable idols

He destroyed all the evil idols

He ordered that the images ⌊that Yahweh⌋ hates should be destroyed

15:8e from the whole land of Judah and Benjamin

that were in the land of Judah and Benjamin.

wherever they were in the land of ⌊the clans of⌋ Judah and Benjamin.

15:8f and from the cities he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim.

He also destroyed them in the towns he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim.

15:8g He then restored the altar of the LORD

He repaired the altar of Yahweh
