8:44a When Your people go to war against their enemies,

“⌊Sometimes⌋ your (sing) people will go to fight with their enemies.

“⌊In days to come,⌋ your people may go to fight with their enemies.

8:44b wherever You send them,

They will go wherever you send them.

You will send them to various places.

8:44a-b (reordered)

“⌊In the future⌋ you may send your people to fight with their enemies in different places.

8:44c and when they pray to the LORD in the direction of the city You have chosen

⌊Then they will pray to you, Yahweh, as they face toward this city that you have chosen.

From there, they will look toward this city that you have chosen and pray to you, Yahweh.

8:44d and the house I have built for Your Name,

⌊They will face this city⌋ and the temple in it which I have built for your name/glory.

⌊They will pray as they look toward⌋ this temple, this temple that I caused to be built for you.
