8:19a Nevertheless, you are not the one to build it;

But you (sing) are not the one who will build this house.
-or-
Even so, the person/one who will build this temple is not you.

8:19b but your son, your own offspring,

It will be one of your sons, your own family member.
-or-
Rather, it will be your very own son.

8:19c will build the house for My Name.’

It is he who will ⌊honor⌋ my Name by building me a house.’
-or-
He will build a temple for me.’

8:18-19

But Yahweh told David that he would not be the one/king to have a temple built/rise for his honor/glory. Yahweh was pleased that David had wanted/planned to do it. However, ⌊I,⌋ David’s own son, would cause the temple to rise.
