SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Kings 16:24

16:24a He bought the hill of Samaria from Shemer for two talents of silver

During that time⌋ he bought the hill of Samaria from a man named Shemer. He paid two talents of silver for it.
-or-
Then Omri gave/paid a man named Shemer seventy (70) kilograms of silver for the hill ⌊on which⌋ Samaria now stands.

16:24b and built a city there, calling it Samaria after the name of Shemer,

Then he built a city on the hill, calling it Samaria after Shemer,
-or-
He had Samaria built there and named it in honor/memory of Shemer,

16:24c who had owned the hill.

the name of the former owner of the hill.
-or-
who used to own the hill.
