16:11a As soon as Zimri began to reign and was seated on the throne,

As soon as he began to rule and sat ⌊firmly⌋ on the throne,

At the very beginning of his reign,

16:11b he struck down the entire household of Baasha.

he killed everybody in Baasha’s family.

Zimri had all the ⌊male⌋ members of Baasha’s family killed.

16:11c He did not leave a single male, whether a kinsman or friend.

He did not leave a single male relative or friend alive.

Every man and boy, all the friends and relatives of Baasha, was put to death.
