13:8a But the man of God replied,

But the man of God answered the king,

But the prophet said to the king,

13:8b “If you were to give me half your possessions,

“If you give me half of everything in your house/palace,
-or-
“You may offer me half of everything you own,

13:8c I still would not go with you, nor would I eat bread or drink water in this place.

I will not go there with you, nor will I eat or drink anything here in Bethel.
-or-
but I still will not go with you to your home/palace. I will eat and drink nothing in this place.
