1:3a Then they searched throughout Israel for a beautiful girl,

So his servants inquired/looked throughout ⌊the land/country of⌋ Israel for a lovely/beautiful young woman.

⌊The king agreed,⌋ and so his aides/assistants ⌊sent people to⌋ search in all ⌊the land of⌋ Israel for a pretty girl.

1:3b and they found Abishag the Shunammite and brought her to the king.

They found Abishag, who was from ⌊the town of⌋ Shunem, and they presented her to the king.
