5:20a And because they cried out to God in battle,

These tribes prayed to God when they went out to war.
-or-
While these tribes fought, they prayed, “God help us(excl.) fight.”

5:20b they were helped against their enemies,

For this reason,⌋ God helped the soldiers of the tribes of Reuben, Manasseh, and Gad ⌊in fighting the Hagrites.
-or-

Because they did this,
⌋ t he soldiers of ⌊the people of⌋ Reuben and Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh received God’s help in the war against the Hagrites ⌊and their allies⌋ .

5:20c and the Hagrites and all their allies were delivered into their hands.

God caused these tribes to defeat the Hagrites and all their allies.
-or-
God caused the people of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh to defeat the Hagrite people and the people who helped them.

5:20d Because they put their trust in God, He answered their prayers.

God answered their prayers because they put their trust in him.
-or-
They trusted God, so he heard their prayers ⌊and caused them to win the war⌋ .

5:20a–d (combined)

They cried out to God during the battle, and he answered their prayer because they trusted in him. So the Hagrites and all their allies were defeated. (New Living Translation (2004))

The soldiers of Manasseh, Reuben and Gad believed God. They prayed to God while they fought. So God helped them. So they won the war against the Hagrites and against all the other people who were helping the Hagrites. (Easy English Bible)
