26:16a The lots for the West Gate and the Shallecheth Gate on the ascending highway fell to Shuppim and Hosah.

Revised English Bible: Hosah was allotted the west gate, together with the Shallecheth gate on the ascending causeway.

By sacred lot they selected Hosah to guard the West Gate and the Shalleketh Gate. The Shalleketh Gate was located on the road leading up ⌊to the temple⌋ .

Hosah received/got the lot/stone/stick which assigned him to guard the western gate and the Shalleketh Gate. ⌊So Hosah and his relatives guarded⌋ the gates and the western courtyard on the upper road ⌊to the house of Yahweh⌋ .
