19:4a So Hanun took David’s servants, shaved their beards,

Therefore, Hanun took hold of David’s messengers and shaved ⌊off their beards⌋ .

⌊As a result of that advice,⌋ Hanun ⌊had⌋ David’s representatives caught ⌊and their beards⌋ shaved ⌊clean⌋ .

19:4b cut off their garments at the hips, and sent them away.

⌊Then he⌋ cut off their robes halfway ⌊up to their⌋ buttocks, and sent them away.

⌊Hanun also had⌋ the long clothes of ⌊David’s representatives⌋ cut in the middle, ⌊exposing them⌋ from the waist down. ⌊Then he said to them, “Leave here⌋ and go back.”
