17:7a Now then, you are to tell My servant David that this is what the LORD of Hosts says:

So now, say to my servant David, ‘This is what Yahweh of armies says.

Therefore, ⌊you Nathan⌋ speak to my servant David. Tell him that this is what I Yahweh, the most powerful one, am telling him.

17:7b I took you from the pasture, from following the flock,

I took you(sing) from the ⌊fields of⌋ pasture, from following the sheep.

I ⌊Yahweh⌋ took you ⌊David⌋ from the fields. ⌊I took you⌋ from ⌊the work of⌋ taking care of sheep.

17:7c to be the ruler over My people Israel.

I made you leader of my people Israel.

⌊I Yahweh⌋ gave you ⌊the work of⌋ leading my people Israel.
