10:4a Then Saul said to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and run it through me,
Saul told the man who carried his weapons, “Draw your sword and pierce me with it.

⌊Saul saw that he was defeated.⌋ He told the man who was carrying his weapons, to take out his sword and kill him with it.
10:4b or these uncircumcised men will come and torture me!”
⌊I say this so that⌋ these heathen Philistines will not be cruel to me.”

⌊He said that, so⌋ that the godless Philistines would not torture and make fun of him.
10:4c But his armor-bearer was terrified and refused to do it.
But the man who carried the king’s weapons was terribly afraid and didn’t want to do it.
