The Hebrew and Greek that is translated as “burden” in English is translated in Malagasy as vaky tratra or “breaking someone’s chest.” The imagery behind this metaphor is that of the fisherman sailing and paddling breathless upwind. In Malagasy, it expresses the idea of abusing the generosity of someone else. (Source: Brigitte Rabarijaona in The Bible Translator 2022, p. 103ff.)
