3:16a I heard and trembled within; my lips quivered at the sound.
When I hear about this, I tremble inside. My lips also tremble ⌊when I hear⌋ this report.

When I, ⌊Habakkuk,⌋ heard all this I started to shake ⌊with fear/terror⌋ . Even my lips trembled ⌊because I was very/terribly afraid⌋ .
3:16b Decay entered my bones; I trembled where I stood.
Weakness comes into my bones, and my legs/knees tremble.

⌊I feel like⌋ my bones become weak/rotten. My legs/knees shake.

My bones went bad, and my legs/knees started to shake.
3:16c Yet I must wait patiently for the day of distress to come upon the people who invade us.
However, I will quietly/calmly wait for the day of trouble to come upon the people who will conquer us.

But I will wait for the time to come when ⌊Yahweh⌋ will punish those who will attack/oppress us.

But now I will patiently wait. Someday ⌊you (sing.), Yahweh,⌋ will punish ⌊our enemies, the people of Babylon,⌋ who will attack us.
