Section 8:15–36

Ezra and his people returned to Jerusalem

8:15a Now I assembled these exiles at the canal that flows to Ahava,

¶ I gathered them at the river that flows towards Ahava ⌊town⌋,
-or-
¶ I, Ezra, called these people to come to the ⌊banks of the⌋ river that flows toward ⌊a place called⌋ Ahava.

8:15b and we camped there three days.

and we set up our tents and stayed there for three days.
-or-
We put up shelters and passed three days there.

8:15c And when I searched among the people and priests, I found no Levites there.

I searched among the people and the priests who were there, and I discovered that there were no men of the clan of Levi.
-or-
I inspected/observed all the people to know who was there, and I found that among the descendants of Levi, there were only sacrificers, but no other temple workers.
