9:57a And God also brought all the wickedness of the men of Shechem back upon their own heads.

God also punished the people of Shechem town for the evil things they did.

God also made the people of Shechem pay for all the evil they had done ⌊to Gideon’s family⌋ .

9:57b So the curse of Jotham son of Jerubbaal came upon them.

The curse that Jotham son of Gideon had said against them was fulfilled.

Jotham the son of Gideon had cursed them. Now the evil things he wished for them had happened.
