9:54a He quickly called his armor-bearer, saying,

Immediately, he called the man who was carrying his weapons. He said,

Abimelek quickly called the servant who was carrying his weapons. He said,

9:54b “Draw your sword and kill me,

“Draw your sword and kill me
-or-
“Take out your sword and kill me.

9:54c lest they say of me, ‘A woman killed him.’”

so that no one can say that it was a woman who killed me.”
-or-
I don’t want them to say that it was a woman who killed me.”

9:54d So Abimelech’s armor-bearer ran his sword through him, and he died.

Then his servant pierced him, and he died.

So the servant stabbed him with his sword and he died.
