3:22a Even the handle sank in after the blade, and Eglon’s fat closed in over it,

The sword went in so deep that the handle disappeared, and the fat closed over it.

The knife went in all the way, including the handle, and the fat closed over the blade.

3:22b Ehud did not withdraw the sword from his belly. And Eglon’s bowels emptied.

Ehud did not pull the sword out of the king’s stomach, and his feces came out.

Ehud did not withdraw the sword, and the king’s stomach contents came out.
