23:14a He smashed the sacred pillars to pieces
Josiah smashed the pillars that people were worshiping

23:14b cut down the Asherah poles
and cut down the poles ⌊honoring⌋ the Asherah ⌊goddess⌋ .

He also had the wooden poles ⌊representing⌋ the Asherah ⌊idol⌋ cut down.
23:14c and covered the sites with human bones.
Then he covered the ground/places with bones of ⌊dead⌋ people.

Then he ordered ⌊his men⌋ to scatter human bones over the area.
