18:12a This happened because they did not listen to the voice of the LORD their God,

This happened because the people of Israel had disobeyed Yahweh their God.

⌊The city of Samaria fell⌋ because the Israelites had refused to listen to Yahweh their God.

18:12b but violated His covenant—

Instead, they had broken the covenant he ⌊had made with them⌋ .

They had been unfaithful to his solemn agreement ⌊with them⌋ .

18:12c all that Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded—

⌊They disobeyed⌋ all the commands of Moses the servant of Yahweh.

⌊They ignored⌋ everything Moses, the servant of Yahweh, had commanded ⌊them⌋ .

18:12d and would neither listen

They did not listen to these commands

They did not pay any attention to what he commanded them.

18:12e nor obey.

or obey them.
