13:23a But the LORD was gracious to Israel and had compassion on them,

But Yahweh was kind and showed mercy to Israel’s people.

However, Yahweh loved them and pitied them.

13:23b and He turned toward them

He turned toward them ⌊in love

He was kind/gracious to them.

13:23c because of His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

because of the covenant he had made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

For he had made a solemn agreement with ⌊their ancestors⌋ Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

13:23a-c (reordered)

Yahweh had made a solemn promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. So he was gracious and merciful to the people of Israel. He was very kind to them.

13:23d And to this day, the LORD has been unwilling to destroy them

Even today, he has refused to destroy the people of Israel

Because of this promise,⌋ even until now he has never destroyed the people of Israel

13:23e or cast them from His presence.

or to make them leave his presence.
