20:14a “By whom?” Ahab asked.

Ahab asked, “Who will do it?”

Then King Ahab asked ⌊the man of God,⌋ “Through/By whom will ⌊Yahweh⌋ do this?”

20:14b And the prophet replied, “This is what the LORD says:

The prophet answered, “Yahweh says this,
-or-
The man of God said to Ahab, “Yahweh says that

20:14c ‘By the young officers of the district governors.’”

‘It/Victory will be by/through the young men/soldiers of the officials of the provinces.’”
-or-
the young guards/soldiers who serve the provincial/district governors will defeat it/them.”

20:14d “Who will start the battle?” asked Ahab.

Then Ahab asked, “Who will begin the battle?”
-or-
Then King Ahab asked who would start the battle,

20:14e “You will,” answered the prophet.

And the prophet replied, “You (sing) will do it.”

and the man of God said, “You. (sing) ”
