King Elah ruled Israel

16:8a In the twenty-sixth year of Asa’s reign over Judah,

In the twenty-sixth year of the reign/rule of Asa over Judah,

When Asa had been king of Judah for about 26 years,

16:8b Elah son of Baasha became king of Israel, and he reigned in Tirzah two years.

Elah son of Baasha became king of Israel. He ruled in/from ⌊the capital city of⌋ Tirzah for two years.

Baasha’s son Elah became king over Israel. Elah ruled in Tirzah ⌊city⌋ for two years.
