SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Kings 14:15

14:15a For the LORD will strike Israel

Yahweh will attack Israel,
-or-
Yahweh will punish the people who live in Israel

14:15b as a reed is shaken in the water.

and Israel will shake like river-grass shakes in a river.
-or-
until they shake like grass in a stream.

14:15c He will uproot Israel from this good land that He gave their fathers,

Yahweh will pull up the people of Israel out of this good land that he gave to their fathers ⌊long ago
-or-
Yahweh will take away from the people of Israel this fertile/happy land that he gave to their ancestors.

14:15d and He will scatter them beyond the Euphrates,

and scatter/throw the people of Israel beyond the Euphrates River.
-or-
He will make them live all across the lands that are on the other side of the Euphrates, the river ⌊of Babylon⌋.

14:15e because they have made their Asherah poles, provoking the LORD to anger.

For they made Yahweh angry when they erected poles ⌊sacred⌋ to ⌊the goddess⌋ Asherah.
-or-
He will do that because they have made Yahweh very angry by making wooden images for ⌊worshiping⌋ ⌊the false/pagan goddess⌋ Asherah.

14:15a-e (reordered)

The people of Israel have made the Lord angry by setting up ⌊sacred⌋ poles for ⌊worshiping⌋ the goddess Asherah. So the Lord will punish them until they shake like grass in a stream. He will take them out of the land he gave to their ancestors, then scatter them as far away as the Euphrates River. (Contemporary English Version)
