30:1–4 (reordered)
This year, the Passover wasn’t celebrated in the first month. Although the first month was the usual time, many of the priests were not ready to serve because they were still ritually unclean. Also, the people had not come to Jerusalem. So King Hezekiah, his officials, and the people all agreed to celebrate Passover in the second month instead. The king sent a message to everyone in Israel and Judah, including those in the territories of Ephraim and Manasseh. The message invited them to come to the temple in Jerusalem to celebrate of the Passover festival in honor of Yahweh, Israel’s God.
