27:5a Jotham waged war against the king of the Ammonites

Jotham fought with the king of the Ammon people
-or-
During the rule of King Jotham he attacked the king of the Ammon people

27:5b and defeated them,

and he defeated them.

and won the war.

27:5c and that year they gave him

That year the people of Ammon paid him
-or-
He forced the people of Ammon to pay him taxes that year.

27:5d a hundred talents of silver,

about three tons of silver,

They paid him about three (3) tons of silver,

27:5e ten thousand cors of wheat,

three thousand tons of wheat
-or-
about three thousand (3,000) tons of wheat,

27:5f and ten thousand cors of barley.

and three thousand tons of barley.
-or-
and about three thousand (3,000) tons of barley.

27:5g They paid him the same in the second and third years.

They paid him the same amount again in the following two years.

The people of Ammon also gave him the same amount of taxes the next two years.
