10:13a So Saul died for his unfaithfulness to the LORD,

Saul had not been obedient to Yahweh, therefore he died.
-or-
Saul had done things which Yahweh had forbidden. That is why he died.

10:13b because he did not keep the word of the LORD

He had not obeyed the command of Yahweh.
-or-
He had disobeyed Yahweh.

10:13c and even consulted a medium for guidance,

He had even gone to a medium and asked her for advice.
-or-
He even asked a woman who talked to spirits of dead people what he should do.
