9:22a The number of those chosen to be gatekeepers at the thresholds was 212.

There were two hundred and twelve ⌊Levites⌋ who were gatekeepers/doorkeepers at the gates/doors.

9:22b They were registered by genealogy in their villages.

They were listed/recorded according to their family line and village.

9:22c David and Samuel the seer had appointed them to their positions of trust.

David, ⌊king of Israel,⌋ and Samuel, ⌊Yahweh’s⌋ prophet, chose these faithful men to be gatekeepers/doorkeepers.
