Exegesis:
pas ho laos ‘all the people,’ cf. on 3.21.
ōrthrizen pros auton lit. ‘rose early toward him,’ i.e. ‘rose early and came to him,’ hence, ‘came to him early in the morning.’ ōrthrizen is habitual imperfect.
en tō hierō akouein autou ‘to listen to him in the temple.’ en tō hierō may go with ōrthrizen, or with akouein, preferably the latter.
Translation:
Early in the morning, or, ‘at dawn’; Toraja-Sa’dan says, ‘when-it-was-no-longer night.’
All the people, here referring to the many people who formed his usual audience in this week.
