And patient, because he shows patience toward those who have sinned, since they are his own works: During a person’s life, while that person sins, God still withholds punishment. At the beginning of this verse the phrase “the Most High is called” is implied from verse 132 (see the comments on verse 133). Good News Bible makes this phrase explicit by beginning with “He is thought of as.” They are his own works may be rendered “he has created them.” Good News Bible has a good model for this verse. One based on Contemporary English Version is:

• He is also called patient, because he is very patient with sinners since he created them.
