Where those protected by thy hand passed through as one nation, after gazing on marvelous wonders: Protected by thy hand is a figure of speech for God’s protection; it can be rendered “under your protection” (Good News Translation, Contemporary English Version). Passed through refers to crossing through the Red Sea. Marvelous wonders refers back to verse 7. An alternative translation for this verse is “There your people saw marvelous things, and the whole nation [or, all of them] crossed over the Red Sea under your protection” or “… and you protected the whole nation [or, all the people] as they crossed over [the Red Sea].”
