For they were killed by the bites of locusts and flies: The connector For may be omitted. Locusts are winged, hopping insects that swarm in the air at certain times. They are edible (Lev 11.22), but they destroy plant life when they move in large swarms (Exo 10.4-6). For this line translators may follow Good News Translation, or express killed in the active voice by saying “Locusts and flies killed our enemies.”
And no healing was found for them may be rendered “no one could help them” or even “there was no way anyone could help them.”
Because they deserved to be punished by such things: Good News Translation may be followed, or a slightly different form to copy is “because it was appropriate [or, only fitting] that such creatures plague [or, pester] them.”
