Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, O son of man: Here prophesy involves judgment, which Good News Translation makes clear by saying “denounce,” and so does Contemporary English Version with “condemn.” The Hebrew text repeats this verb for emphasis. For son of man, see Ezek 11.2. A possible model that captures the emphasis in this verse is:

• Therefore speak my message against them. Yes, mortal man, tell them I condemn them.
