Translation commentary on Jeremiah 51:45

Her; that is, the city of Babylon, whose walls have fallen (verse 44).

My people; that is, the LORD’s people, the “People of Israel” (Good News Translation). As with most address forms, Good News Translation moves this to the beginning of the command.

Every man must be taken of people in general.

The people are to flee from the fierce anger of the LORD; that is, they are to try to escape from what God will do to Babylon in his anger. Translators can say, for example, “Flee from the effects of my anger there [or, on that city].” For fierce anger, see 4.8.
