Good News Translation should have combined this verse with the previous verse since it places the last clause of this verse near the beginning of verse 4.

Ammi-el … Issachar … Pe-ullethai …: These names continue the list of Obed Edom’s sons from verse 4.

For God blessed him: The pronoun him refers to Obed Edom, which Good News Translation, Contemporary English Version, and Nova Tradução na Linguagem de Hoje make clear by placing this clause near the beginning of verse 4. Having many sons was considered a sign of God’s blessing (compare 1 Chr 25.5). New Century Version makes this implied meaning clear by saying “God blessed Obed-Edom with children.” If this clause is an allusion to 1 Chr 13.14, which says God blessed Obed Edom and his family, then it should be translated “for God had blessed him” (Traduction œcuménique de la Bible).
