From the land across the Euphrates may be translated “from that land,” since “on the other side of the Euphrates River” is expressly mentioned in the previous verse.

I gave him many descendants. I gave him Isaac may be inverted to reflect chronological order: “I gave him his son Isaac, and through Isaac I gave him many descendants.”
