Translation commentary on Numbers 36:9

As mentioned above, verse 9 repeats verse 7, with slight variants, thus forming a frame around verse 8.

So no inheritance shall be transferred from one tribe to another: See verse 7. The connector So, which renders the Hebrew waw conjunction (literally “And”), indicates that verse 9 is a repeat of verse 7. Other connectors that do this are “Therefore” (Die Bibel im heutigen Deutsch) and “In this way” (Chewa; similarly Bible en français courant, Parole de Vie, La Biblia: Traducción en Lenguaje Actual).

For each of the tribes of the people of Israel shall cleave to its own inheritance: See verse 7. This sentence may be rendered “Indeed, each Israelite tribe must keep the land it inherits” (similarly TNIV).
