Translation commentary on 1 Chronicles 7:10

The sons of Jedia-el: Bilhan: As in verse 3, the Hebrew text has the plural sons, but there is only one son mentioned. For this reason many modern versions translate using the singular “son” (New International Version, New American Standard Bible, Revised English Bible). Biblia Dios Habla Hoy, for example, says “The son of Jediael was Bilhan” (also New Living Translation, American Bible), and Parola Del Signore: La Bibbia in Lingua Corrente reads “The son of Jediael: Bilhan.” Others take the Hebrew term for sons in a more general sense as including grandsons.

Jedia-el was the third son of Benjamin according to verse 6 above, but he is not mentioned in Gen 46.21.

And the sons of Bilhan …: As in previous verses, Good News Translation states the number of sons listed, here “seven,” although the Hebrew does not actually state the number, only the names.
