This verse corresponds to the instructions in 27.12. (See the comment there.) The Hebrew has no verb in this verse, so the verb were has been added twice in Revised Standard Version. The words “the breadth of the court” are not repeated here, but the rest of the wording is the same. The last clause, which is missing in 27.12, simply repeats what has been said for the south and the north sides. (The use of sockets in Revised Standard Version is inconsistent, for the same Hebrew word is translated “bases” in verse 11 and elsewhere.)
