Translation commentary on The Prayer of Azariah and the Song of the Three Young Men 1:68

If integrated into the book of Daniel: 3.90

Bless him, all who worship the Lord, the God of gods, sing praise to him: Bless is the same verb that has been used repeatedly in the refrain throughout this psalm (see the comments on verse 35).

Good News Translation‘s restructuring here reverses the first occurrence of the pronoun him and the noun phrase the Lord: “Praise the Lord, all who worship him.” It then moves God of gods to substitute for the second occurrence of the pronoun him: “sing praise to the God of gods.” God of gods may be rendered “Supreme God,” “God who is above all other gods,” or “God, above whom there is no other.”

For his mercy endures for ever: This repeats the clause ending the previous verse.
