A wife honoring her husband will seem wise to all: Good News Translation offers a good model for this line; translators should only notice that although Good News Translation uses “honors” here and in verse 25b, the Greek word for honoring here differs from the word for fear in verse 25b. “Treats with respect” would work here, so we may translate this line as “Everyone can tell that a wife is wise if she treats her husband with respect.”

But if she dishonors him in her pride she will be known to all as ungodly: Good News Translation is good here. Another approach is “But if she is so arrogant [or, self-centered] that she shows him no respect, everyone will know that she doesn’t honor the Lord.”

Happy is the husband of a good wife; for the number of his years will be doubled: These lines are almost identical with verse 1. See the comments there. The only significant difference is that here, years appears instead of “days,” but the meaning is the same. These lines and verse 1 may be translated identically. Contemporary English Version‘s model is helpful:

• Yes, a man who is married
to a good woman
is happy, and he will live
twice as long.
