He will find gladness and a crown of rejoicing, and will acquire an everlasting name: The phrase gladness and a crown of rejoicing occurred earlier at 1.11; see also 6.31. Good News Translation‘s translation at 1.11 is better than here. We could render the first line here as “You will be crowned with happiness and joy,” “You will be rewarded with happiness and joy,” or even “The Lord will reward you by making you happy and joyful.” To acquire an everlasting name means that “people will remember you forever.”
