In this verse the psalmist tells how Yahweh “remembered his chesed (see 5.7) and his ʾemunah (see 36.5) for the house of Israel” (see Revised Standard Version). Good News Translation takes this to mean that the LORD “kept this promise” to his people, the promise contained in the covenant always to show them “constant love” and “loyalty.” For the pairing of these two characteristics, see also 89.2, 14b, 24, 33; 92.2. Bible en français courant translates “he has not forgotten to be good and faithful (to the people of Israel).” Dahood assigns other vowels to the verb to make it imperative and translates “Remember his love and his fidelity, O house of Israel!” For All the ends of the earth, see 2.8.
He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness becomes more specific in Good News Translation‘s rendering. The problem for many languages is contained in “with loyalty and constant love for them.” In some languages this expression of manner must be shifted to clauses; for example, “God has always loved them and has been faithful to them.” The expression have seen the victory may be understood in some languages to be limited to the physical act of seeing. Since the intention is that of experiencing God’s delivery, it may be necessary in some cases to say “God has made it clear to all peoples that he saves his people” or “God has shown everyone how he saves his people.”
