Again, as in verses 1-2, the psalmist proclaims his confidence. Verse 5 is like verse 1, except that here hope is used in line b (“salvation” in verse 1b). Verse 6 is like verse 2, except that here the difficult word translated “greatly” is not used.

In verse 7 the psalmist declares that his deliverance and … honor depend On God. For honor see comments on “glory” in 3.3; 7.5; here it probably refers to the psalmist’s place of “eminence” (verse 4). For mighty rock see “rock” in verses 2, 6; refuge is the same word used in 14.6b (see comments there). The expression On God rests my deliverance and my honor must sometimes be shifted to the active voice; for example, “God is the one who saves and honors me” or “God saves me and gives me honor.”
