In verse 14a the verb “to increase” or “to add” is taken by most to mean “give you children,” which was regarded as one of the greatest of all blessings (see 127.3-5); Die Bibel im heutigen Deutsch translates “May the Lord give you large families.” New American Bible, however, has “bless you more and more,” and Traduction œcuménique de la Bible translates “make you prosper.”

Yahweh is addressed as the one who made heaven and earth, that is, the Creator of the universe (see 121.2; 124.8; 134.3).
