Translation commentary on Leviticus 22:12

Outsider: as in verse 10, this refers to an Israelite layman who is not a member of the priestly class, rather than to a non-Israelite foreigner. Marriage to someone who was not a priest automatically excluded the daughter of the priest from those who could eat food that had been offered in sacrifice to God, even though she had previously been able to eat it.
