Translation commentary on 2 Samuel 6:18

And: this conjunction may again be omitted in translation.

Blessed the people: in some languages it will be more in keeping with the meaning of this passage to say something like “he asked God’s blessing on the people…,” because in some languages only God can actually bless. Or, perhaps better, one may say “he used the name of the LORD Almighty to invoke blessing on the people.”
