I do not despair of my condition: Good News Bible has a good model for this clause, but we may also say “I still hope that I will get better.”
For I have good hope of recovering from my illness says the same thing as the first clause (see Good News Bible‘s model). He tells the Jews that he does not expect to die of his present illness.
